Did Your Power Go Out?

This is the whole thing about Christianity. We Floridians really get it because when a hurricane comes the number one question is, “Did you lose power? Do you have electricity?”

Electricity expresses itself in different ways. We have lights, some electric cars, some phone chargers, refrigerators, (you get the picture). They look different as the life force of electricity is flowing through it, but it is the same source.

It looks different for each person in various situations. It's going to look different when you need peace; it’s going to look different when you need to raise the dead. It’s going to look different when you need contentment, but the source of it all is the same power of electricity -  Holy Spirit.

Jesus didn’t say it’s tough living this life as a Christian - He said it was impossible. We were never supposed to do life without Him. Apart from Him we can do NOTHING! (John 15:5).

Just picture yourself as a hot cup of water and Jesus is the delicious flavorful, sweet smelling tea bag that is dropped into your boiling cup. “I can do all things through Christ who infuses His strength into my colorless and tasteless life.” (Philippians 4:13 msg).

Apart from Christ, you cannot do anything that pleases God because He is the originator of everything. Batteries are for a battery powered flashlight; gasoline is for a gas empowered car. That is what makes it go.

The word says, “He breathed His Spirit into Adam… Man was made to run on the Holy Spirit, and He is telling you today as you read this - “Fill up and GO!” (Matt:28:19-20).

The time of teaching and training will never end, but now is the time for deployment. Many are being filled up with the true source of life and being sent out to GO! Anything that is not produced from that source is self-works.

So now we can do things, not just from an “I'm trying really hard!” but from a whole different kind of source. The secret is learning how to embrace the season you are in and to live out of a different power source, especially for what is coming..

We need to be prepared to rely on the Holy Spirit to keep the lights on and the refrigerator running. We will feed the needy and be a light to all the darkness surrounding us. Your heart is needed for this very hour! You were made for this very moment to shine.

Face Down and Floating in the River of Life

I went to the beach a few weeks ago and I realized how much I love the ocean. Even though the waters were rough the weekend I was there, I love the ocean because it always reminds me that God and His power are so much bigger than me. The feeling of being scared and exhilarated were both present as I plunged face into the large waves that were coming at me. When I was preparing to speak Sunday, the Lord started speaking to me about His river flowing from His throne. He told me the river that is coming is not like anything we will ever have experienced before (and I have been through two major outpourings and revivals). He also showed me that this river is NOT just a metaphor or a thing we sing, or talk about but it is an actual REAL living river! We can step into it with our God given imagination anytime we choose.

Ezekiel 47: 1-12 says, “The man brought me back to the entrance to the temple, and I saw water coming out from under the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was coming down from under the south side of the temple, south of the altar. (2) He then brought me out through the north gate and led me around the outside to the outer gate facing east, and the water was trickling from the south side.

(3) As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits and then led me through water that was ankle-deep. (4) He measured off another thousand cubits and led me through water that was knee-deep. He measured off another thousand and led me through water that was up to the waist. (5) He measured off another thousand, but now it was a river that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough to swim in—a river that no one could cross. (6) He asked me, “Son of man, do you see this?”

Then he led me back to the bank of the river. (7) When I arrived there, I saw a great number of trees on each side of the river. (8) He said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, where it enters the Dead Sea. When it empties into the sea, the salty water there becomes fresh. (9) Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live. (0) Fishermen will stand along the shore; from En Gedi to En Eglaim there will be places for spreading nets. The fish will be of many kinds—like the fish of the Mediterranean Sea. (11) But the swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they will be left for salt. (12) Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear fruit because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.”

If you have never snorkeled before I encourage you to try it sometime. The minute you put your face down in the water, everything changes. It is an entirely different world under the ocean. You can just float and see a new dimension of life under the surface of the water. I hear the Lord saying in this hour to put your face down and float in His river.

There’s a place of floating in His presence where we are lifted up by the Most High God and when we are face down in the Lord, we see in a different dimension. Instead of seeing the shaking that is happening all around us we are floating in His Shalom in the river.

In Ezekiel 47 the man measured the depth of the river by using a measuring line. God is asking us in this hour, “How deep will you go into my river?” Will we just go ankle deep? There you can still walk and still have control. Will you go waist deep and feel the current under your legs pulling you out where you may not want to go? Or will you decide to face down and just go all in so you can see differently? It is time for us to get our heads wet and face down. Little children are taught to get their head and face wet when they are learning to swim and most of them hate it and put up a fuss about it at first. After a little time, when they learn how to swim it is not such a big deal to get in over their head. They usually jump right in!

When you get your face down in the waters and get your head wet you will see different like Jesus does and everything changes! Where are you in the River of Life? I encourage you to go in all the way and put your face down to see a whole new world. The River of Life is real and is going to flood our nation and we need to be ready for it. I want to encourage you to meditate on Revelations 22:1-5 (and verse 17) and Ezekiel 47.

“Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb (2 )down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. (3) No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. (4) They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. 5 There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.

(17) The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.

Divine Contradictions - Nicole Welch

In order to get through 2024 we must know how to approach the year that we are in. I look to Psalm 23 going through the valley so we can climb the mountain in Psalm 24.

The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want. Another version states “the Lord is my shepherd I shall not suffer lack.” The shepherd must shear the sheep of the wool. This means the Lord will never take so much wool off of me that it will harm me, I'll always have enough left. He takes things away from them which is the wool so that they don't get caught up in the brushes and the stickers and they don't fall over. The Lord understands that we must be trimmed and dealt with for our own good.

He makes us to lie down in green pastures. The Hebrew word means to settle down. Children must take a nap and settle down for their own sake. In 2024 we must “lay down” things so our identity in Him can be “settled”.

He leads me beside Still Waters. He does not lead me besides running waters but STILL waters.

Psalm 46:10 says “Be still”…That can be hard for us this year of 2024 but God wants to still the waters inside of us. When the waters rise around us like a rushing flood we will be still waters inside our hearts and know that He is leading us and He is God.

He restores my soul. David was making reference to righting a cast sheep and a cast sheep is a sheep who HAS NOT been sheared and has so much wool, he is so heavy and strays from the flock that it will get off balance and fall upside down. He will lay there with his feet up in the air and if they stay very long upside down they suffocate to death or the gases in their stomach build up and can kill them.

Our Shepherd counts sheep and finds that a sheep that is missing and if it's a cast sheep he restores him (He ‘rights’ him)

This year God is going to right cast sheep this coming year. He knows how to restore my soul and how to “right me” and actually one translation says to return to original intent.

Maybe you've been upside down feel like you're going to die but you're going to be sheared and righted you're going to return to your original intent.

He leads me in Paths of righteousness for his name's sake

If sheep are left alone they will always find the wrong path but God is about to lead us in Paths of righteousness this year is going to be one of the most righteous years that God has ever expressed himself in and on and through his people. Become a follower. A great leader is a great follower. It is the only way you become a leader appointed by God.

I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, but I will fear no evil for you are with me and your rod and your staff comfort me

Snakes crawl, horses run and sheep walk.

We are not running scared through this valley don't run sheep walk.

We will walk through 2024 through our breakthrough!

God is with you and he's not in a hurry. He's walking with you and his rod and his staff is going to comfort you

He prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies

Hell is not threatened by our ministry---but by the table of fellowship with God that He sets, and WE sit at.

He prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies.

I am completely kept safe by God at that table among those who hate me and want me dead. The most threatening weapon against the powers of darkness is fellowship with God (aka sitting with God) at his table.

He anoints my head with oil and my cup overflows

Sheep get infections in their nose in their mouth and in their eyes because of flies and the infections get so severe they get very sick, and they'll die if they're not medicated. Our Shepherd takes his oil and pours it up the nose to medicate the sheep from the poisonous flies that were left behind. He saved the Sheep's life and is detoxing the sheep from any infection.

We have a Shepherd who loves us so much that he anoints our head to save us from anything that can destroy us. Isaiah 10:27 defines the anointing as the burden-removing, yoke-destroying power of God.

Only then can He fill you and your cup overflows.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. I prefer goodness and mercy to be in front of me but this verse says “goodness and mercy are following me.” His unfailing love will chase me and it comes from the derivative of a hunter who will track down his prey. He will catch us this year no matter what we are facing in front of us, goodness and mercy are following behind us.

Looking for God Within and Building Supernatural Strength in the Times We Live In

Summer is usually a time for relaxing and hanging out in the pool. However with some amazement and shock I am looking at the calendar seeing summer is almost over with and we were booked with family, business stuff and caretaking both our only living parents.  I realized how my reserves have been running low and almost empty on a daily basis. Let me remind all of us what the enemy of our soul is currently doing “He will defy the Most High God and wear down the saints..” (Daniel 7:25 TLB)

I spoke recently at The Covenant Center from a book by John Eldredge called “Resilient” (click on this link to check it out https://amzn.to/3RLu9lX) and I will be referring to it in this blog. I believe this book is a must read in the times we are living in.

I have finally come to accept that nothing really is returning to “normal” I realize that I must intentionally adjust my life so that my reserves do not run empty. We must have perseverance or what I like to call “grit” for the season we are in now. We are told we will need it in His word: “You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For in just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay, but my righteous one will live by faith, and I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back. But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved, (Heb. 10:36-39 NIV).

So where do I find this inner strength or resilience? The answer is in the question. Strength is given to us by God. I am not talking about gritting our teeth and running the extra mile or doubling down when times get hard. I am speaking of Supernatural strength, like our favorite marvel heroes or DC Comics. There is one thing we have that superman and wonder woman do not have - the prayer found in Ephesians 3:14-15. “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.” Through his what? Power. Where does he strengthen me? In my inner being.

We are reminded in Psalms 73:26 that even though “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

Our God dwells within our very being. Everyone has a well that can be tapped into just as in says in John: “out of your belly will flow streams of living water.” Proverbs 20:27 also instructs that “The human spirit is the lamp of the Lord that sheds light on one’s inmost being.” God is the strength of your heart and you can tap into this strength whenever you need it. However, this world is designed to distract us, fragment us and pull us away from our hearts and from God.

In John’s book “Resilient” he writes about how in times of war, we must dig deep, for we need to navigate these days victoriously. We must do that by turning our attention to Jesus within us in the depth of our very own being. He later describes the three levels of our inner being. The first level is called the Shallows. This is where all of our day to day distractions and fleeting thoughts enter our mind at warp speed most days. Many of us live here.

The second level is called the Midlands. This is what keeps us up at night. For me it is my mom and son’s health, our business and all the worries and cares of my life. The third he calls the Depths. This is where the eternal things dwell like love, hope and faith. This is where I really connect with God.

So how do you start to find God within? Easy, just start by giving him your attention - your undistracted focus on God with all of your heart. The battle is always for our attention and our peace.
