The Harvest of the Harvesters
Written by Amey Celoria
In February of 2008 I found myself sitting in Bob & Bonnie Jones’ living room with Shawn Bolz and his assistant, Matt. Bob shared with us about what God showed him at the beginning of 2008 for an hour and a half that evening. You may remember that at the time he was recovering from severe kidney problems that almost took his life and was on dialysis several times a week. We were talking about the illness and he reminded us that God promised he would live until he saw a billion souls come into the Kingdom in a worldwide youth revival beginning in 2012. Bob began sharing with us about another harvest of souls that would occur in 2010. He called this the Harvest of the Harvesters. We talked about the need for workers to handle a billion souls in 2012 and the fact that God was going to prepare His people to equip and disciple the harvest when it came. If you remember, over the last several years there has been an awakening and calling forth of the fathers and mothers to take their place in the Kingdom. I believe the awakening of the spiritual parents was to align the people of God for this coming move of the Spirit – the Harvest of the Harvesters. Last fall, I was in Tulsa, OK for a few weeks overseeing a couple of nights of worship with Jason Upton. One of the worship nights was held on the campus of Oral Roberts University – a door that opened just weeks before the event was to be held. I wasn’t sure where I was going next, but the night before I left Tulsa I decided to come to Kansas City to visit IHOP and see what was going on. Like some of you, I’d been hearing rumors of revival breaking out amongst the IHOPU students. I experienced one of the meetings that were being held nightly at the Forerunner School of Ministry. Wes Hall facilitated the meeting. I’m using the term facilitate because he didn’t direct the meeting – he allowed the Spirit of God to have full control of what was happening – but he provided a voice of leadership and order when it was needed. There was a call for repentance that was repeated all evening. People gathered in small groups praying for one another, for regions of the country, for deliverance, for healing, and anything else they are directed to pray for by the leadership. Testimonies were shared – of deliverance from drugs, eating disorders, same-sex attractions, pornography, religion, and the spirit of anger. Baptisms were held in a water tank to the side of the stage. Children were praying for people and dancing freely amongst the adults. There were people there from all ages – coming and going throughout the evening. One of the amazing things that I heard was the testimonies pouring in from college campuses across the United States. There were students gathered in Christian universities - and secular ones - watching the webstream of the meeting and the power of God is falling on them where they are. A portion of time was dedicated to praying for the Spirit of God to move on Christian schools across the country in particular. As I sought the Lord about what He was doing He reminded me of the time I spent with Bob Jones and his message about the Harvest of the Harvesters. I believe that is what I am saw at IHOP. God is preparing His people by delivering them and healing them in His sovereignty. But it is for a greater purpose – it is for us to be prepared to participate in the harvest of a billion souls. Now, more than ever, we need to disciple and equip believers to do the work of the Kingdom. I just want to encourage you to seek the Lord for yourself and ask what is your part. This may turn out to be a bunch of students seeking repentance for a few days (a beautiful thing to see) but, no matter what, you have a part to play in God's plans. It's time to get into alignment with His purposes.
